RBH plans for more family homes and green space in Lower Falinge are approved

Date published: 03 December 2018

RBH’s proposals to deliver a better quality and mix of homes in Rochdale town centre have taken another step forward, with Rochdale Council's approval of plans to deliver 55 new homes at the heart of Lower Falinge.

The new homes will replace five existing 1960s blocks of flats, which will be demolished as part of the development.

The blocks will be replaced with 55 brand new homes, comprising 33 one and two bedroom flats and 22 two and three bedroom houses, together with a new park and play space to provide a new “green heart” at the centre of Lower Falinge.

This new green area will provide improved public open space for both new and existing residents, and better connections and routes through the neighbourhood.

Clare Tostevin, RBH Director of Growth, said: “We’re really pleased to receive planning consent for the latest phase of plans for Rochdale town centre. We’ve worked closely with the local community to develop these plans, and we’re extremely grateful to all the residents who have got involved by attending our workshops, speaking to us at our drop-in sessions, or feeding back online through our dedicated website and our social media discussions”.

RBH continue to provide advice and assistance to residents affected by the demolition proposals.

RBH has promised that all tenants affected by the demolition will be guaranteed both compensation and rehousing priority for a like for like home, and that all those who wish to stay in the town centre area will be able to do so.
