Roadworks, temporary local road closures, restrictions and events

Area: Pennines

Reason: to hold the Springhill Hospice Santa Dash or Dawdle.

Expected start and finish: 10.55am-11.20am, on Sunday 9 December 2018.

Restriction and location: temporary closure of

  • Rakewood Road from the entrance/exit of the Visitors Centre Car Park to a point 20 metres south of the Unnamed Footpath around Hollingworth Lake, rear Lake Bank.

Alternative route: due to the nature and duration of the event it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Area: Pennines

Reason: to facilitate the safe holding of the Wardle Village Christmas Eve Carol Concert.

Expected start and finish: 5.30pm-8.30pm, on Monday 24 December 2018.

Restriction and location: temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along

  • Ramsden Road from its junction with Crossfield Road to its junction with Wardle Fold.

Alternative route: due to the nature and duration of the event it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Area: Pennines

Reason: for the protection of the public whilst works are being undertaken on the new housing development.

Expected start and finish: 8am-5pm, each day from Monday 26 November 2018 - Monday 25 November 2019.

Restriction and location: temporary closure of

  • Unnamed footpath from Bramhall Close to Elizabethan Way, from Elizabethan Way for a distance of 46 metres in a north westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists will be clearly signed when the closure is in place.

Area: Pennines

Work being undertaken: Virgin Media are currently installing new Fibre Broadband in the Pennines area.

Who to contact: for any issues about this work, please use the following methods to gain the quickest and safest possible resolution.

  • Contractors on site - contact a site supervisor. They are best placed to resolve many issues there and then. In most instances, this will be the quickest and safest way to resolve any issue.
  • Virgin Media Helpdesk - if unresolved, or there are no contractors in the area, or if the site has been left in an unsafe manner and requires urgent attention, please ring the Virgin Media helpdesk on 0333 000 5925.
  • The helpdesk hours are: Monday-Friday, 8am-7.30pm, Saturday, 8am-12noon. The helpdesk will alert the contractor and Virgin Media's compliance engineers.
  • Alternatively, please email expansionworks@virginmedia.co.uk with details of your address and preferred contact method.

Rochdale Borough Council Highways - we need to be aware of issues being raised with Virgin Media. Please email highways@rochdale.gov.uk or phone on 0300 303 8879, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. At all other times, please phone our Contact Centre on 0300 303 8875 for emergency work on the highway.

Reason: to allow the investigation and repair of the carriageway and culvert following a landslip.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Friday 23 November 2018 - 6pm, Friday 4 January 2019.

Restriction and location: temporary closure of

  • Ashworth Road, from a point 700 metres north of its junction with Bury and Rochdale Old Road for a distance of 80 metres in a north westerly direction (Between Ashworth Valley Scout Camp to the North and Gelder Clough Caravan Park to the south).

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be via Ashworth Road, Edenfield Road, Moorland Avenue, Bagslate Moor Road, Norden Road, Bury and Rochdale Old Road.

Area: Middleton

Reason: to allow access to a housing development site.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday 16 July 2018 - 6pm, Wednesday 15 January 2020.

Restriction and location: temporary cycle lane closure:

  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.
  • From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.

Reason: to resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am-5pm each day from Monday 26 November 2018 - Monday 10 December 2018.

Restriction and location: temporary closure of

  • Mount Street from its junction with Schofield Street to its junction with Manchester Street. Pedestrian access won't be affected.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Schofield Street, Hardfield Street and Manchester Street.

Area: Heywood

Reason: to resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am-5pm each day from Monday 26 November 2018 - Monday 10 December 2018.

Restriction and location: temporary closure of

  • Peel Street from its junction with Bury Street and Bridge Street to its junction with Derby Street. Pedestrian access won't be affected.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Cherwell Avenue, Bank Top Street, George Street, Bridge Street and Bury Street.
