Following a service at St Chad’s Parish Church at 2pm, local troops of scouts, beavers and cubs marched into Rochdale town centre for the St George’s Parade on Sunday (28 April).
Littleborough Band led the parade once again, as the procession made its way along Church Stile, past Broadfield Park and down the path to Manchester Road, before reforming outside Touchstones Rochdale.
The parade then marched along the Esplanade to Rochdale Town Hall, before making its way to Gracie Island after salutes were given by each group.
Salutes were taken by Alan Sharkey, Pennine Scouts District Commissioner, as the scouts, cubs and beavers marched down the road between Rochdale Town Hall and Rochdale Cenotaph.
Enjoying the sunshine, also in attendance included the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, Councillor Billy Sheerin and Lynn Sheerin, along with Deputy Lord Lieutenant Ian Sandiford and his wife, Janet.
Alan Sharkey dismissed the troops after sayings of thanks on Gracie Island.
