Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries after collision on Albert Royds Street

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a car closed Albert Royds Street in Rochdale on Tuesday (30 April).

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary with injuries to his arm, leg, chest and head, following the collision with a black Toyota Avensis at around 11am near Samson Street.

Albert Royds Street has been closed in both directions between Milnrow Road/Rochdale Road/Kingsway junction at Kingsway Retail Park and Samson Street since the incident, and is expected to remain closed, as of 3.30pm, until early evening.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: “We were called to a road traffic collision involving a motorbike.

“We sent both the air ambulance and a land ambulance and took the motorcyclist to hospital.”
