One Little Word: Family Theatre Performance at M6 Studio

Date published: 20 May 2019

M6 Theatre’s classic family show One Little Word will be returning to Rochdale this June as part of a UK-wide tour.

Told with original music and just ONE spoken word, this moving story about the joys and struggles of friendship has already captivated thousands of children – not only in the UK but at many international children’s festivals.

Two friends meet and play together - dressing up, building dens and taking turns. They build the best boat EVER but struggles arise when one of them wants to be the only Captain of the ship! Providing the most perfect introduction to the magic of theatre, One Little Word is for anyone who’s ever struggled with sharing.

Gilly Baskeyfield of M6 Theatre expands: “One Little Word is a play without language – well almost!  Its accessibility, therefore, is greatly increased.  It is a deceptively simple story but is in no way simplistic. Although the play is aimed at 3-6 year olds, children of all ages and their families have been mesmerised.”

The creative team behind this beautifully crafted show includes director Andy Manley (White, Black Beauty), M6’s Artistic Director Gilly Baskeyfield and composer Tayo Akinbode (Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Exchange and Nottingham Playhouse).

One Little Word is performed by Greater Manchester based actors Shaban Dar and Purvi Parmar. It’s suitable for family audiences aged 3-6 years.

This special community performance from the award-winning theatre company will take place at M6 Studio Theatre, Albert Royds Street, on Sunday 2 June at 2pm. Tickets cost £3 and are available from M6 Theatre by calling 01706 355898.
