It’s time to nominate your local health STAR

Date published: 31 May 2019

NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group (HMR CCG) is asking local residents to nominate outstanding GPs and GP practice staff deserving of an award for going the extra mile to provide high quality patient care.

HMR CCG hosts the HMR STAR (Special Thanks And Recognition) awards annually. These celebrate and recognise HMR CCG staff, GPs and GP practice staff for the excellent work they do to help NHS HMR CCG deliver its objectives and achieve its vision of healthier people, better future.

The People’s STAR (Nancy Fallon Memorial) Award category is open to local people and patients to nominate GPs, practice managers, practice nurses, GP receptionists or healthcare workers who deserve special thanks and recognition for their work.

Dr Chris Duffy, HMR CCG Chair and local GP, said: “The annual STAR Awards are a fantastic opportunity for local people to say a big thank you to their GP, receptionist or member of the practice who they feel are deserving of this award.

“Previous winners of the People’s STAR Award have included GPs nominated for supporting their patients through challenging health conditions and delivering outstanding patient care, and a compassionate healthcare assistant who helps nervous patients feel at ease. If you know someone who deserves the People’s STAR award, we want to hear from you.

“All staff, even if they are not winners, will receive information about their own nominations. Please take the time to complete the nomination form and nominate your STAR.”

How to nominate:

To help with shortlisting and the final selection of this year’s People’s STAR, you should give as much detail as possible about the person or team you are nominating, in no more than 200 words.

This could be about their achievements; approach to colleagues, patients, work, change or challenges; reasons why they are a great example for others and employees of which the NHS can be proud; or what they’ve done to provide excellent service.

Be clear about why you think the person or team you are nominating is an HMR STAR. Tell us why you feel they deserve an award.

Complete a nomination form in one of the following ways:

  • Visit www.hmr.nhs.uk/hmrstarawards, complete an online form and email it to: hmrcommunications@nhs.net
  • Ask for a nomination form at your GP practice or print a nomination form from the website, complete it and post it to:
