Norden Carnival 2019

People turned out in droves for Norden Carnival on Saturday 15 June 2019. 

Local groups, schools and nurseries paraded through the village led by Northenden Pipe Band.

 

 

 

 

 

The parade went from from Caldershaw School at 1pm with a funfair, food and drinks, live music and stalls at Norden Community School afterwards.

Businesses in the village decorated their windows to match the theme of superheroes and villains and winner of the Best Dressed Shop window was Mayfair Hair & Beauty.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The best float was awarded to Fisherfield Childcare (above) and Norden Women’s Institute (below) won best walking group.

Best dressed adults went to the staff at Whittaker Moss School who dressed up as the Ghostbusters.

 

 

 

King and Queen this year were last year’s Best Dressed Boy and Girl; Harrison Snailham, and Evelyn Corcoran.

Mathew Moroney was named the Best Dressed Boy and Isabella Horwich the Best Dressed Girl.

Posters to promote the carnival were designed by overall competition winner Raeesah Islam and the runners up were Charlotte Pautz (infant winner) and Brooke Thomas-Harrison (junior winner).

Norden Carnival was established in 1977 and has taken place every June as a charity fundraising event.
