Magnet fisher hopes to reunite found jewellery with owner

Date published: 27 June 2019

A quantity of jewellery has been found by a local magnet fisher who hopes to reunite the find with its rightful owner.

Scott Bryant, from Castleton, found the jewellery when magnet fishing on Rochdale canal, along with a USB stick and an engraved mirror, given as a 50th birthday present.

He said: “It’s a long shot, but I wanted to try and find the owner.

“It was thrown into the canal in a pillowcase. There’s two jewellery boxes and a USB stick, I've managed to dry out the USB stick. On the USB are some pictures of a lady celebrating her 50th birthday by climbing the Sydney bridge.”

Scott took up the hobby of magnet fishing in late 2018, after his stepson introduced him to the activity.

His hobby previously enabled him to reunite a recovered safe stolen in an armed robbery in Whitworth over 10 years ago with its owner.
