A spokesperson for Wardle Academy said: “This is a great help towards funds for the students to go to Palanga.

“Wardle Academy is extremely grateful for this donation. We are still raising funds for our youth band to represent us in the European Youth Brass Band Championships in Palanga in 2020.

“If you would like to donate please contact the Wardle Academy Music Department. All donations are greatly appreciated.”

Keith Fairhurst, from Rochdale Childer, said: “Rochdale Childer is a charity organisation who provide help and assistance for any Rochdale child in need, or to assist organisations working for Rochdale children.”
