Littleborough Rushbearing Festival, Joe Thompson Testimonial Match, Middfest 2019, Summer Serenade, Little Glastonboro, Family Fun Days, Free Tennis Sessions, Car Boot Sales, Charity Nights, Live Music and Milnrow Wellbeing & Yoga Festival - lots to do in and around the borough this weekend.

Spring Awakening – St John’s Hall, Whitworth, Fri 19 & Sat 20 July, 7.30pm

Whitworth Amateur Musical & Dramatic Society (WAMDS) present a rock musical based on the 1891 German play of the same name.


Littleborough Rushbearing Festival 2019 – Sat 20 & Sun 21 July, parades & entertainment at various times each day

The parade on Saturday ends in Hare Hill Park where there are demonstrations, games, sports, and stalls of various kinds. Sunday, the parade passes from Hollingworth Lake into the village where musicians and dancers demonstrate their skills.


  • Friday 19 July

HMR CCG Governing Body invites local people to attend next meeting – Number One Riverside, 10.30am – 12.30pm

See NHS-decision making in action and submit your own questions.


Charity Olly Murs Tribute Night – Milnrow Cricket Club, 7.30pm

Fun, music, raffle and laughs with drag host Miss Syren.


Live Music: Funktion & Co – The Flying Horse Hotel, live music starts 10pm

Covering songs from all the genres.


Live Music: Guns 2 Roses – Empire Rochdale, 6pm – 4am

Live on stage from 10pm, tribute to Guns n Roses.

  • Saturday 20 July

Free tennis sessions in Rochdale and Heywood – Queen’s Park Tennis Courts, 9am – 10.30am

Tennis For Free will provide free coach-led tennis sessions for all the family for one year.


Summer Serenade – Gracie Island, outside Rochdale Town Hall, 10am – 2pm

All of Rochdale Music Service's bands and ensembles will be performing, with local businesses on hand to provide hot food and snacks.


Rochdale Borough Holiday Jamboree Family Fun Day – Broadfield Park, 11am – 6pm

Games and activities plus entertainment for all the family, organised by the Nigeria Community Association. 


Little Glastonboro 2019 – Littleborough Cricket Club, 1pm – 11pm

Featuring up-and-coming artists, top tribute acts, local bands and community groups.


Benefit Do in aid of Tony Parker – Mayfield Sports Centre / Rugby Club, 7pm - late

Entertainment, auction, raffle and food raising funds for rugby player Tony who has incurable prostate cancer.


Live Music: The Undercovers – The Flying Horse Hotel, live music starts 10pm

Playing party and dance music from the 80s, 90s and today.


Live Music: The Jam Restart – Empire Rochdale, 6pm – 4am

Tribute band to The Jam live on stage from 10pm.

  • Sunday 21 July

Bowlee Car Boot Sale and Collectors Market – Bowlee Community Park, 6am for sellers, 7am for public – 1.30pm

Running on Sunday’s until mid-August.


Middleton Town Centre Car Boot Sale – Middleton Shopping Centre, 6am – 1pm

Held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month.


Rochdale Town Hall Car Boot – Town Hall Square, 8am – 1pm

You do not need to book, simply turn up on the day. 


Milnrow Wellbeing and Yoga Festival – Milnrow Memorial Park, 10am – 5pm

Raising awareness of all things mindful, healthy, active and well-being to the local community. 


Charity Fun Day – D&W Cars Ltd, 11am – 4pm

Raising money to contribute towards the construction of a new children's medical facility in Tepa, Ghana.


Middfest 2019 – Limefields Park, 12noon – 5pm

Middleton Roundtable are hosting a 150ft Assault Course, Fun Fair, Charity Stalls, Climbing Wall, Archery, Axe Throwing plus much more for this year’s event.


Family Fun Day – Norden Bar & Grill, 1pm – 3pm

Treasure hunt, make your own bird feeders, cake decorating and messy play activities.


Joe Thompson Testimonial Match – Crown Oil Arena, 2pm kick off

Watch Joe Thompson’s Rochdale XI play against the Celebrity All Stars XI. The day will be full of surprises and celebrations with fair rides, face painting plus more.


Jazz on a Sunday – Newtown National Club, doors open 7.15pm for 7.45pm start

This week welcomes Mike Lovell's Six in a Bar.
