Hooray for Happywood: Festival of Happiness in Heywood

Date published: 26 July 2019

Heywood based social enterprise, PossAbilities, is the driving force behind a month long Festival of Happiness taking place during the whole of August.

The festival called Happywood, will see local businesses, groups and the whole community engaging in happiness themed events and activities, starting with the unveiling of a giant Hollywood style sign at the Queens Park Café at 3pm on Thursday 1 August.

Rachel Law, Chief Executive of PossAbilities said: “It’s a widely held belief that happiness is the greatest gift that we possess. Yet, in the hurly-burly of day-to-day life, which for some means just trying to survive, it is something that we often forget. if we don’t give focus and pay attention to the things that make us happy we will miss the daily opportunities that there are to suck in and nurture the life-force that is happiness.”

“That’s what Happywood is all about. Everyone can join in. We’ve got 200 sets of Happywood bunting to give away, 500 Happywood stickers and we will create a town trail using the windows of local shops. You’ll also see our Hollywood style sign moving around the town, along with some surprise events too, We want everyone to be part of it – and it’s free.”

The annual summer fayre at Cherwell Wellbeing Hub on 17 August will have a Happywood theme, with free entry and unlimited free inflatables.
