Paul-Michael Jones of Turners said: “Our first ever hip-hop competition and our girls did amazingly. What a credit they all were to themselves and the school.

“The majority of girls competing on the day had never even been to a competition before and are new to dancing, some have been dancing for under a year, so they deserve a massive well done and congratulations.

“We achieved a really good result for our first time. The girls had to dance individually too in age categories in the style of hip-hop, which they should be proud of.

“Thank you to the teams for their hard work and to their families for being supportive on the day.

“A big thank you also to Lizzie Jones who, even at eight months pregnant, did an amazing job at training the girls.

”We have been competing regularly for years and years in all different styles, but never before in hip-hop; we’re always trying to introduce new styles to the girls, so they can continue dancing for longer.”

Hip-hop classes are weekly at Turners, running on Saturdays from 1.00pm – 2.00pm.

The next hip-hop competition is at the end of the year in December.
