Former Beech House students win National ISA Art Final awards

Date published: 24 November 2019

Two former Beech House students have won awards at this year’s National Independent Schools Association (ISA) Art Finals in Leeds.

The ISA National Art Competition is held annually for schools to showcase their pupils’ art and for teachers to share best practice and ideas. There are dozens of classes to cover different age groups and genres, from 2D art, through to fashion and photography.

Zara Saeed, was awarded second place, Vivian Westwood, in the Key Stage 4 and over Fashion and Accessories category, and Elana El Hage was highly commended with a Frida Kahlo award in 2D Art Individual Key Stage 4.

Both students produced their work whilst they were in Year 11 at Beech House before leaving this summer.

Their former art teacher, Mrs Ali, said she was 'delighted' with the fantastic results.

She added: “I am very proud of the students’ hard work and commitment.”

With over 2,000 entries, the standard of the artwork was incredible at this year’s National ISA Art Finals which made the judging tough for the adjudicators; Sarah Casey, senior lecturer in drawing and installation at Lancaster University, and Joanne Crawford, head of fine art, history of art and cultural studies at the University of Leeds.
