Date published: 24 December 2019

Four children from Rochdale have had their artwork turned into real Christmas cards after winning a festive design competition.

Rochdale Borough Council leader Councillor Allen Brett and chief executive Steve Rumbelow invited local schools to enter the competition last month.

Four winners were selected:

  • Danyal Khan, 13, a Redwood School pupil who designed a very festive looking snowman

All the artwork has been made into electronic cards with moving animations that have now been distributed by email to hundreds of individuals and organisations. Printed versions of the cards have been posted.

Last week Councillor Brett and Mr Rumbelow visited both schools and presented the winners with a professional signed print of their Christmas card, a gift voucher and chocolates for their classmates.

Councillor Brett said he was very impressed by all the designs: “The standard has been amazing. Thank you to all the children who took part. I know they really worked hard and the designs look fantastic on my cards.  I was very pleased to be able to call and thank them personally.”
