A man has died after his car collided with a wall on Heywood Old Road at around 11.20am on New Year's Day (Wednesday 1 January 2020).

The Toyota Yaris hit a brick wall near the junction with Doctor Fold Lane and despite the best efforts of paramedics, the driver – who is believed to be in his 20s – was pronounced dead at the scene.
