Heavy rain expected tonight

Heavy rain is expected across the borough on Friday night (21 February), as a yellow warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office.

The warning is in place from 12 noon on Friday until 6am on Saturday morning.

A yellow warning for rain is also in place on Monday (24 February), from 3am until 3pm.

The Met Offices says that rain will become persistent and heavy, especially over hills, and may lead to flooding and travel disruption, whilst Monday’s rain may lead to further disruption.

What to expect:

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely
