Donation morning for foodbank at Hare Hill House

Date published: 19 March 2020

Hare Hill House is hosting a donation morning for Smallbridge foodbank amid the current coronavirus pandemic.

Hare Hill House will be open between 10.30am and 11.30am on Friday morning (20 March) for those wishing to make donations to the foodbank, which is a satellite centre for the Rochdale Foodbank, offering provisions on a Saturday.

Organiser Ruth Pringle said: “We have been working with one of our local schools and now have a scheme in place to provide small weekly food parcels to their children on free school meals.

“I'd also like to be able to offer some children’s books and any other educational supplies so if you're taking this opportunity to have a clear out, here's how to get rid of the books your children no longer want.

“While I completely appreciate that this is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone, it's also really important that we help those hardest hit."

Smallbridge are currently requesting essential food items such as:

  • Tin food (soup, beans, pasta etc)
  • Long life milk
  • Long life fruit juice
  • Boxes of cereal
  • Instant mash
  • Treats (sweets or chocolate)

There are also food donation points at Smallbridge Methodist Church and Reuse Littleborough.
