Little‘Pink’Borough’s best dressed windows

Date published: 03 November 2020

This year’s best dressed windows for Little’Pink’Borough have been named as Laura Eliz beauty salon and Bow Wow Barbers.

The two businesses were declared joint winners by the judges, councillors Janet Emsley and John Taylor, former Littleborough councillor Ann Stott, and Littleborough Lion Lynn Butterworth.

Laura Eliz’s window features a hand-painted scene, while the window at Bow Wow depicts a pink poodle having a luxurious bath.

Laura Bramfitt, of Laura Eliz, said: “We are over the moon to have our window selected this year.

“This is our second year in the salon and our second year taking part in the Little’Pink’Borough cancer awareness campaign. We love to get involved in local charitable events and especially those that allow us to get creative. Our amazing Sophie was in charge of our window display this year and I gave her the criteria of it needing to be a mix of autumnal, Halloween and Little’Pink’Borough themed.

“Raising awareness and collecting donations for this cause is extremely close to my heart. Having seen family and close friends battle with cancer – and having had very recent testing for cervical cancer myself – it makes our salon family more determined than ever to raise some pennies this year.

“We want to thank all of our loyal customers for buying pins, giving donations and their kind words about our window design.”

Vanessa Lord, of Bow Wow Barbers, said: “We would like to thank the judges for picking Bow Wow Barbers; I am glad they like the display. Congratulations to Laura Eliz beauty parlour who we share first place with a beautiful display.

“All who took part are all winners. Big thank you to Kath and her husband ,and those who help with organising ‘pink’ borough. I had lots fun putting up the display and I am looking forward to doing it again next year.”

Kath and Andy O’Donnell, of the Three Amigos Fundraising Group, which organises the village event each year, said: “The judges loved the hand painted window at Laura Eliz, and how Bow Wow displayed what they do. The bubble machine over the dog in the bath made it.”

Kath continued: “We didn’t think the event would happen this year. We asked the shops and the majority wanted to do this and raise awareness as well as funds for Cancer Research UK. The windows looked amazing and gave a great atmosphere and brightened up the village. So much hard work had gone into them and people really enjoyed them.

“Thank you to everyone who took part this year, especially in these tough times. Thank you to the judges and to Littleborough Lions for sponsoring the event.”

The event was started in 2016 by The Three Amigos Fundraising for their 10th anniversary in October 2016 to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Previous best window displays have been won by Pretty Parade Boutique, Althams Travel, Reuse Littleborough, Beauty Boutique and Little Gift Box.
