Pupils from St James' C of E Primary thank NHS for pandemic efforts

Date published: 22 March 2021

Schoolchildren at St James’ C of E Primary School in Wardle have created special cards and poems, thanking local community nurses and doctors for their efforts throughout the ongoing pandemic.

The children – many whom have key worker parents – had wanted to say a huge thank you to the hardworking NHS teams for all of their hard work during the last 12 months.

In addition to cards, the children also created a huge purple heart display, featuring the words ‘thank you’ written in many different languages.

A couple of local community nurses from different units collected and distributed the artwork around the NHS units on behalf of the school.

Before Christmas, the children had taken part in a classroom to care home project, providing over 150 cards to local care homes to help to try and combat loneliness experienced by some of the residents.

They plan to do the same for Easter, to brighten the days of those living in residential homes and sheltered accommodation.
