Retail and hospitality jobs' fair in Rochdale town centre

Date published: 25 September 2021

A jobs' fair for those interested in retail and hospitality in Rochdale town centre will be held at Rochdale Riverside on Wednesday 6 October.

Rochdale Council and the Business Improvement District (BID) have teamed up with Rochdale Riverside to give a boost to local residents’ employment prospects as the recruitment day fair is set to highlight a wide mix of job opportunities in the town centre.

The recruitment day is a great opportunity to meet staff from the council's Employment Links Partnership (ELP) team who will inform you about the current retail and hospitality vacancies in the town centre, as well as providing careers advice and help you find training courses.

Rachel Greenwood, ELP Advisor, Rochdale Council, said: “We’re so excited to support Rochdale town centre businesses.

“After visiting the town centre and speaking to the managers, it was hard to believe how many businesses actually had employment opportunities. I knew we had to do something to help them out, so working together with the BID team, we came up with this fantastic idea of a recruitment event. Myself and my colleagues will be on hand to help, advise and support local people into local employment.

Paul Ambrose, Business Improvement District Manage (BID) said: “The BID has continued to support all our town centre businesses through a very challenging period.”

“Town centre businesses have been extremely resilient throughout the pandemic and thankfully as visitors have returned to the high street we have seen new businesses opening and many established ones are busy and looking to expand their workforce.

“If anyone is currently looking for roles in retail or hospitality, please pop down to the event and speak with the employees from the Employment Links Partnership; they are there to help.”

Rachel Byrne, Centre Manager,  Rochdale Riverside said: “Riverside is delighted to host this event and the timing of it couldn’t be better as many of Riverside's tenants are currently looking to expand the number of staff they employ.

“I’m sure the event will be a huge success which will help peopl  into employment and training.”

The event will take place between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday 6 October, Rochdale Riverside at unit 20 (between DCM and Crust Pizza)
