Forty Beech House students from years 3-6 took part in a ‘plastic challenge’ competition between the school years
The Upper Prep at Beech House School embarked on a community litter pick on Wednesday 6 October.
Forty students from years 3-6 donned coats, wellies and blue gloves for the occasion, a ‘plastic challenge’ competition between the school years.
Armed with bin bags, the students began cleaning the school playgrounds and front gardens before moving to Manchester Road where they collected 'huge amounts of litter'.
The students then tackled parts of Mandale Park, collecting lots of tins and plastic bags before walking up the hill for a final pick-up near the BMX bike track. Here, the children collected lots of plastic drinks bottles from the park.
Each year group filled a bin bag with Year 5 winning the challenge after managing to fill two bags.
The school’s principal, Kevin Sartain, said the pupils had 'an amazing time'.
