Shop assistant threatened with a knife during armed robbery in Heywood

A man wielding a knife stole money and tobacco from the Premier Convenience Store on Middleton Road, Heywood on Saturday morning (23 October).

The man entered the store at around 7am and threatened an employee before demanding money from the till. He then fled the store with money and tobacco.

He is believed to have fled in the direction of Manchester Road towards Heywood Town Centre.

Thankfully no one was injured.

The man is described as approximately 20-years-old, white, around 5'5 in height and of slim build. He was also wearing light grey jogging bottoms, a navy blue hooded top and white baseball cap.

It is also believed before the robbery he had been in the Charles Street area, close to the Black Swan pub.
