Appeal for selection boxes and advent calendars for local underprivileged children

Date published: 25 November 2021

Local organisation Their4U Fundraising are appealing for selection boxes and advent calendars to be distributed to underprivileged children in Rochdale ahead of Christmas.

The fundraising aim of the Rochdale AFC Military Veterans team, Their4U Fundraising plan to hand out selection boxes and advent calendars to different children’s homes across the borough this weekend, on Sunday 28 November.

Manager of Rochdale AFC Military Veterans, Adam Trennery said: “My volunteers and I have decided to do this as we want to try and put a smile on as many children's faces as possible for Christmas. We want to give back to the community and more importantly, give to those that are in need at this time of year.

"We are hoping to have 100 selection boxes and advent calendars to deliver to a children's care home in or around Rochdale or even the Children's ward at the Royal Oldham or the Children's Hospital in Manchester. Preferably, I would like to give them to the services in Rochdale and keep it local.

“We are more than happy to receive requests with a justifiable answer if you know an individual that would like to be gifted a selection box or advent calendar."

Anyone wishing to donate, or to nominate someone to receive a selection box or advent calendar, can email their4ufundraising@hotmail.com or get in touch via Facebook.

Adam added: “We can collect the boxes from wherever the kind donator is located.

"We are so happy to help as many families as possible as we understand that this time of year is a very difficult time as well as expensive, never mind after a pandemic."
