Engineering works at Manchester Victoria over festive period

Date published: 07 December 2021

Engineering works at Manchester Victoria station will see a rail replacement bus run from Rochdale on certain dates over the Christmas and New Year period.

Manchester Victoria will be closed on 27 and 28 December due to engineering works between the station and Moston and Salford Crescent.

A replacement bus service will run between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria on both Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December.

From 1-3 January engineering work will be taking place between Manchester Victoria and Salford Crescent and buses will replace trains between Manchester Victoria and Salford Central so although journeys from the Rochdale borough to Victoria will be running, onward journeys may be affected.

Engineering works are also being carried out at Leeds from 27-31 December; these works should not impact local journeys and no replacement bus services will be issued from Rochdale in either direction.

All Northern train services will end at 7pm on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve with no services on Christmas Day or Boxing Day. Normal services will operate on most routes on New Year’s Day.

Current government legislation makes it a legal requirement for passengers to wear face coverings on all forms of public transport - unless exempt – including on trams, trains and buses, and all transport interchanges.

More information on replacement or amended services can be found on the National Rail website.
