Co-operative Christmas cards bring community together

Date published: 15 December 2021

Over 300 Christmas cards coloured in by local schoolchildren have been distributed to local care home residents.

The Christmas cards have been designed by Belfield Art Group, and decorated and coloured in by busy pupils at Milnrow Parish, Belfield Primary, Buckstones Primary and Broadfield Community School.

Each card has been written and personalised by the children before being delivered to care home residents in Rochdale, Milnrow and Shaw in the run up to Christmas. Residents will also receive a card of their own to design and decorate so they can send one to family members.

Donna Tucker, Deputy Manager at Lakeside Residential Home, was extremely happy to be involved in the project.

She said: “It is so important for the residents to receive this little bit of happiness in a card.

“They have had a very tough couple of years and we cannot wait to give them a small piece of joy this Christmas.”

The cards have been brought to life and printed with support from the Co-operative, Milnrow, as Belfield Art Group is one of three local causes supported by the Co-op.
