One of the mental health and wellbeing packs is in Arabic
A variety of mental health and wellbeing packs for the BAME (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic) community have been produced by the Rochdale Dawah Centre.
The packs have been tailored towards teenagers, adults, and mothers of under-fives and expectant mothers, and have been produced in Arabic, Bangla and Urdu in addition to English.
Each pack is accompanied by a video in the relevant language which can be found on YouTube.
The packs contain a wellbeing questionnaire, tips to improve mood and a helpful planner to keep track of what works for you, plus a range of support helplines.
Mohammed, from the Rochdale Dawah Centre, said: "As mental health is a taboo with the BAME community, we realised this resource was much needed, including tips/advice and, more importantly, local support services.
"We believe this will have a positive impact within the ethnic community of Rochdale; the response has been very good and [we have had] positive feedback from our service users and partner organisations."
Rochdale Dawah Centre was established in 2003 by a group of volunteers, offering a range of social support services and educational activities for the local community.
The organisation aims to specifically support the BAME community (through wellbeing and support programmes, although people from different faiths and backgrounds use its services.
It works with a range of partner organisations in the area, such as youth projects, mosques, churches and community centres, promoting social cohesion and inclusivity across all age groups.
