Turning the M60 blue and yellow to raise money for Ukrainian refugees

Date published: 10 March 2022

Local bike group Brass Knuckle Riders will be turning the M60 into a sea of blue and yellow to raise money for Ukrainian refugees.

The ‘Ring of Blue and Yellow’ will take place on Sunday 20 March, raising money for local organisation EastLancs4Ukraine, which is working on the ground in Ukraine delivering aid.

Bikers are asked to wear blue and yellow and to meet at Birch Services westbound from 8am ahead of departure at 11.30am. A voluntary donation of £5 per bike is recommended, but any donation will be gladly received.

Donations of medical supplies are welcome – please bring them on the day or drop your donations at Empire on Packer Street, Rochdale, during opening hours (10am – 5.30pm each day; until 9pm on Wednesdays).

Paul Whitaker, of Brass Knuckles, said: “All money will be handed directly to EastLancs4Ukraine. We ask that admins of fellow biking groups organise their riders and ride to Birch services in their respective groups.

“Individuals, please just turn up as normal.

“This is an emergency. We need admins to organise your riders and meet us at Birch.

“Women and children need your support right now and we need your help to help them.”
