GCSE results 2022: Wardle steps forwards
Date published: 25 August 2022
L-R: Ruby, Ella, Francesca
Staff and students at Wardle Academy are this year celebrating their achievements in closing the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers, bucking the trend predicted by experts of this gap widening nationally due the impact of Covid-19.
Moreover, impressive individual performances are again being celebrated including Ruby Fidler (nine Grade 9s); Francesca Forbes (eight Grade 9s and one Grade 8); and Lucy Gilbody (eight Grade 9s and one Grade 8).
Interim Headteacher James Glennie said: “To actually take a significant step in narrowing an attainment gap which is notoriously difficult to close is a real badge of honour for the staff and pupils who have worked so hard.
“It is also indicative of the huge potential within the school to achieve great things.”
