Coffee Morning at Butterworth Hall raises £1,500 for Macmillan

Date published: 22 September 2022

A Macmillan Coffee Morning at Milnrow’s Butterworth Hall has raised £1,500 for the cancer charity.

Hosted by Victoria Turnbull and Lynn Hartley on 10 September, the day featured coffee and cake, plus several stalls, including plants, jewellery, candles, and Christmas goods. Tombolas and raffles rounded off the stalls, resulting in a total raised of £1,445.

Vicki said: “Lynn and I would like to thank you all so much; we couldn’t have done it without you.

“When you organise an event like this, it is not possible to do it alone and so I would like to thank all the mums, dads, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, grandchildren and of course friends who helped on the day and beforehand to make this such a success.

“I would also like to thank Rochdale Online for advertising and also the many shops and businesses that gave prizes and helped us with cash donations.”

The first Macmillan Coffee Morning took place in 1990, raising over £165.5 million for the charity.

Macmillan offers a broad range of cancer information and support services – including a free support line and a community of over 7,700 healthcare professionals. Funded almost entirely by donations, demand for Macmillan’s services is constantly growing, but the charity receives no government funding.

Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. There are over 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK and this is set to grow to almost 4 million by 2030.
