Staff at The Willows accept their donation and cards on behalf of the residents
Pupils at Milnrow Parish Primary School have written over 100 cards for residents at The Willows and Lakeside care homes.
The children at Milnrow Parish designed their uplifting cards and messages as part of Children’s Mental Health Week 2023, highlighting the value of community, empathy and understanding for good health and wellbeing.
The cards - and a donation of shortbread - were delivered on Easter Monday by Jenny Allen, the Co-op's Member Pioneer for Milnrow, which has supported local primary school children in writing Christmas cards for care home residents over the last three years.
Milnrow Parish Primary School wanted to keep these relationships, between young and old, going throughout the year.
Cathryn, teacher at Milnrow Parish Primary School said: "This act of kindness allowed our children to think of others, understand the value of community and consider the wellbeing of those who receive the cards.
"As a school, we pride ourselves on developing a sense of community and showing love towards others."
