Whitworth High student already selling artwork

Date published: 15 July 2023

Teenage artist Misha Kamran has been painting and drawing all her life, and now her work is being sold.

The Whitworth Community High School Year 10 student is taking Art GCSE and dreams of being a freelance artist, travelling to different countries, immersing herself in the inspirational views that greet her; then selling the art she creates to others.

Her mum Saima suggested she sell some of her paintings, from stunning sunsets to portraits, and she arranged with Littleborough Coach House to display her daughter’s work.

Misha, 15, from Shawclough, said: “I had paintings lying around and my mum suggested that I could sell them. I have already sold three paintings and have five other drawings and paintings for sale.

“I was really shocked at first, and I didn’t believe it when someone wanted to buy my art, then the person said they wanted to buy more. My umbrellas painting was the first to sell; it still doesn’t feel real.”

She paints in her conservatory and said it is a great way to escape everyday pressures.

Misha said: “I listen to music all the time and make sure I am alone when I paint.”

She has been on many holidays and gets inspiration from what she sees around her, filling her paintings with colour.

On her dad’s birthday, she presented him with a portrait adding lots of bright acrylic colours.

In her art book she has a number of stunning portraits where she has captured the facial proportions and perspective with skill, first using alcohol-based marker pens and then completing the detail with colouring pencils.

Misha is hoping to enroll on a BTEC in Art once she completes her GCSEs.
