Nominations open for Rochdale Diversity Awards 2023

Nominations are now open for the Rochdale Diversity Awards 2023.

The Diversity Awards aim to recognise contributions made by individuals, groups and/or organisations in making progress within their organisations and/or communities towards inclusion, cohesion and diversity within the workplace and/or service provision.

The Rochdale Diversity Awards 2023 award categories are: 

Cohesion Award

• Nominate an individual, group, or organisation in the private, public, or VCSFE sector that has made an outstanding contribution to championing and/or improving cohesion within the borough.

Workforce Diversity Award

• Nominate an organisation that has championed equality and diversity in their workplace to achieve a balanced workforce that is reflective of their local community/customer base, creating awareness, developing opportunities, supporting progression, and retention of people from underrepresented communities. 

Diversity in Apprenticeships

• Nominate a learning provider or an employer that has been supportive in encouraging and increasing the take-up of apprenticeships within underrepresented communities or has made significant efforts to attract and employ apprentices from underrepresented communities. 

Diversity in Education Award

• This award aims to highlight the important role schools, colleges, and education providers play in cohesion and best practices in promoting, sharing, and/or teaching about cohesive communities. 

Diversity in Health Award

• This award is for an individual or organisation in the public, VCSFE Sector, or health sector that has made an outstanding contribution to improving health (outcomes and/or services) for disadvantaged and underrepresented communities in the Borough.

Diversity in Public Sector Partnership Working Award

• This award recognises the impact that public sector organisations have had in promoting and supporting cohesion and diversity and implementing projects and strategies to support underrepresented groups.

Breaking Barriers Award

• Organisations breaking boundaries and/or barriers to work with underrepresented communities This award is to show organisations are ensuring their services are accessible, inclusive and appropriate to the communities of the borough.

Community, Voluntary & Faith Sector Award 

• This award aims to highlight the role the VCSFE sector has on cohesion and to showcase the work being undertaken to support and promote cohesive communities in the borough.

Outstanding Achievement in Diversity  

• This award aims to recognise the work done by individuals who are going above and beyond to promote and encourage minority communities in the borough to aspire and achieve their goals. 

A spokesperson for the Kashmir Youth Project, which runs the awards, said: "This is great opportunity to showcase the good work being carried out in the borough of Rochdale and to share good practice.

"The awards recognise and reward the excellent work undertaken by individuals, groups and organisations in promoting social cohesion within the borough and aim to motivate service providers to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion remain at the forefront of strategic and operational considerations.

Nomination forms must reach KYP, Unique Enterprise Centre, Belfield Road, Rochdale, OL16 2UP by post or email no later than Friday 3 November 2023.

The awards ceremony will be held on Friday 1 December at KYP’s Unity House centre.
