Roof and ceiling to be replaced Jumbo Community Centre and Middleton Junction Library

Date published: 13 November 2023

The leaking roof and ceiling at the Jumbo Community Centre and library at Middleton Junction is to be replaced.

The current roof has been “leaking badly” and the ceiling has been damaged for a number of years, says local councillor Dylan Williams, who has secured the £132,500 investment from Rochdale Borough Council.

Jumbo Community Centre and Middleton Junction Library will close on 20 November before re-opening during evenings and weekends, subject to an asbestos air test on 4 December. The library and daytime activities at the centre will reopen and recommence from 4 January 2024.

Councillor Williams said: “I am very pleased and proud to announce that after months of campaigning behind the scenes and various meetings, I have secured £132,500 funding for a new roof and ceiling. This will secure the community centre and library's future for decades to come.

“This is a huge investment from Rochdale Council for East Middleton which I’m extremely proud to have secured.”
