Personal trainer to workout for 24 hours for The Christie's children's ward

Date published: 29 November 2023

A local personal trainer from Evolution Gym, Castleton, is taking part in a gruelling 24-hour workout to raise money for sick children.

Kevin Chaplin, from Castleton, began the challenge on Tuesday 28 November to raise money for Julian Potts, a local little boy who has leukaemia, and the children’s ward at The Christie.

Kevin has previously completed a 24-hour workout, raising thousands of pounds for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Evolution has also opened its Queensway premises for 24 hours, allowing other members to train in solidarity with Kevin.

Managing director Mike Hogan said: “Our gym has been quietly collecting funds for a young individual battling leukaemia and for the children's ward at Christie's Hospital. The response from our local community has been truly heart-warming.

“This challenge is not your average fitness feat – it's a relentless 24-hour workout.

“The purpose of this challenge extends beyond personal endurance; it's about raising both funds and awareness for our cause. Kevin’s determination is a testament to the selflessness and dedication of our team.”

He continued: “To rally behind this exceptional personal trainer and to support the cause we believe in, we have decided to open Evolution Gym for 24 hours on this special day. This will provide an opportunity for everyone in our community to train and stand in solidarity with our Kevin.”

Donations are being taken in-house.
