Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To construct a roadway drainage system.

Expected start and finish: Monday 18 September 2023 – Friday 22 December 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary 10mph speed limit on Over Town Lane for its entire length.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To demolish a balcony safely.

Expected start and finish: Monday 30 October 2023 – Friday 12 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lower Falinge, from its junction with Eliza Brierley Drive for a distance of 51 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair a waste water sewer in the road.

Expected start and finish: Friday 10 November 2023 – Friday 1 December 2023 or until the work is complete.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lower Street, from its junction with Fraser Street to a point 20 metres in a northerly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for traffic.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair the gas mains.

Expected start and finish: Friday 24 November 2023 - Thursday 14 December 2023 as required.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of the footpath at Beightons Walk from its junction with Shawclough Way for a distance of 20 metres in a northerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for pedestrians is Hillstone Avenue, Overdell Drive and Shawclough Way.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To hold the Norden Christmas Lights event.

Expected start and finish:

  • The closure and prohibition of waiting along Edenfield Road will be operative between 6pm – 6.45pm on Saturday 2 December 2023.
  • The closure and prohibition of waiting along Trinity Street and Clapgate Road will be operative between 3pm – 10pm on Saturday 2 December 2023.

Restriction and location:
Temporary closure and prohibition of waiting along the following roads:

  • Edenfield Road, from its junction with Hutchinson Road to a point 345 metres in a south easterly direction.
  • Trinity Street, for its entire length.
  • Clapgate Road, for its entire length.

Alternative route: Due to the nature and duration of the event, there will be no alternative routes for vehicles in place.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new water service in the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 4 December 2023 – Wednesday 6 December 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Marland Old Road, from a point 25 metres west of its junction with Wheelwright Close for a distance of 10 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Bolton Road and Marland Fold.

Reason: To repair traffic calming measures in the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 4 December 2023 – Tuesday 12 December 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Edmund Street and Chaseley Street.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair the road.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 5 December 2023 - Wednesday 6 December 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Bamford Way from its junction with Meadowcroft Lane to a point 164 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be signed onsite.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace a water box frame and cover in the road.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am – 3pm, Thursday 7 December 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Belfield Road for a distance of 25 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for traffic will be Belfield Road, Entwisle Road, Halifax Road, Albert Royds Street and Samson Street.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: To carry out electrical works to a property.

Expected start and finish: Monday 27 November 2023 - Friday 1 December 2023.
Restriction and location:

  • Prohibition of waiting at any time along the north side of Fountain Street from its junction with the unnamed access road between Long Street and Fountain Street for a distance of 13 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Temporarily suspend the loading only bay on the north side of Fountain Street from its junction with the unnamed access road between Long Street and Fountain Street for a distance of 13 metres in an easterly direction.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To provide space for coach parking for those attending the pantomime event at the Middleton Arena.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 5pm each day between the following dates:

  • Monday 27 November 2023 – Friday 1 December 2023.
  • Monday 4 December 2023 – Friday 8 December 2023.
  • Monday 11 December 2023 – Friday 15 December 2023.
  • Monday 18 December 2023 – Thursday 21 December 2023.

Restriction and location: Temporary prohibition of waiting at any time along the south westerly side of L/Cpl Joel Halliwell VC Way. This will be from a point 54 metres south east of a point opposite the south easterly kerb line of Old Hall Street, for a distance of 52 metres.

Reason: To repair the road.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am – 3pm each day, Thursday 7 December 2023 – Monday 11 December 2023 as required.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Bowness Road, from its junction with Windermere Road to its junction with Searness Road.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Windermere Road, Wood Street and Bowness Road.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: To facilitate highway improvements.

Expected start and finish: Friday 16 June 2023 – Friday 5 April 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary 20mph speed limit on Pilsworth Road, from its junction with Moss Hall Road to the Heywood Distribution Park entrance.

Area: Heywood
Reason: To carry out urgent water works.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 22 November 2023 – Wednesday 13 December 2023 as required.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Birtle Road from a point 270 metres north of its junction with Church Road for a distance of 35 metres in a northerly direction.

Area: Heywood
Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 27 November 2023 – Friday 1 December 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Bamford Road from its junction with Bury and Rochdale Old Road to its junction with Brown Street.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Bamford Road, Market Place, York Street, Queens Park Road and Bury and Rochdale Old Road.

Area: Heywood
Reason: To lay a new water main and connections.

Expected start and finish: Monday 27 November 2023 – Monday 11 December 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Hardman Street for its entire length.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Queens Park Road, Adelaide Street and John Street.

Area: Heywood
Reason: To install new traffic calming measures in the road.

Expected start and finish: 9am – 5pm each day, Monday 4 December 2023 – Friday 15 December 2023 as required.
Restriction and location:
Temporary closure and prohibition of waiting at any time (between the times and dates listed) along the following roads:

  • Heywood Hall Road, from its junction with Queens Park Road to its junction with Bamford Road.
  • Starkey Street, from its junction with Queens Park Road to its junction with Bamford Road.
  • Queen Street, from its junction with Langton Street to its junction with Longford Street.
  • Langton Street, for its entire length.

Alternative route: Alternative routes will be signed on street when the closures are in operation.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: To carry out electrical connections.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am – 3.30pm each day from Tuesday 28 November 2023 – Thursday 30 November 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Ogden Lane, from its junction with Waterworks Road to a point 71 metres in a south easterly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Pennines
Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 5pm each day on the following dates:

  • Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 December 2023.
  • Saturday 9 & Sunday 10 December 2023.
  • Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 December 2023.

Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Stockton Street, from a point 45 metres north of its junction with Church Street to its end in a northerly direction.
  • Access will be provided if safe to do so.

Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.
