Rochdale mum co-authors best-selling Christmas Treasury storybook

Date published: 09 December 2023

A Rochdale mum of three is "absolutely thrilled" after co-authoring a children's Christmas book which has reached best-seller status.

Helen Yates, was one of 24 authors to write short Christmas stories for children compiled into The Enchanted Christmas Treasury book which quickly rose to Amazon number 1 best-seller status when released earlier this month.

Helen's story, transports you to outer space and follows the adventures of Wink, the star who cannot talk, or shine and of how, when faced with fear and adversity, you can overcome the greatest of challenges. Helen’s main character, Wink, is based on her son and his struggles with anxiety and selective mutism.

Helen, 45, said: "The impact that this book is already having worldwide is phenomenal. I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of this book which is packed full of representation, inclusivity and diversity. The idea is to read one story a day for Advent and begin new traditions with your children. Each story is unique with its own special meaning and although aimed at young readers, aged five-to-eight, is a must-read for the young and old."

Helen added: "To be part of a legacy that will be part of children’s Christmases for years to come makes me feel so proud and because it is helping a wonderful children’s charity makes it all the more special."

All the proceeds raised from sales of The Enchanted Christmas Treasury will help fund the work of SENStory, a UK-wide not-for-profit Community Interest Company, helping children, young people, and families with Special Educational Needs navigate their journeys in nature through therapy, play, learning and training opportunities.

The Enchanted Christmas Treasury collaborative book project has been curated by Abigail Horne, the founder of Authors & Co.

Abigail’s story about a fallen angel is also featured; she said: “The Enchanted Christmas Treasury celebrates the spirit of inclusivity, diversity, and kindness - themes that are especially important during the holiday season. Bringing together these twenty-four authors from all over the world, to create and write such beautiful stories has been so special – as I know what a lasting impact this project can and will have.”

The Enchanted Christmas Treasury is available now via: www.authorsandco.pub/Christmas-book, Amazon and Waterstones.com. It has been edited by the wordsmiths from Book Forge, Deanne Adams and Hazel Hitchins and illustrated by Esme Talbot of Scruffy Little Herbert.
