Teenager dies after crash on Spotland Road

A 19-year-old man has died after the car he was travelling in crashed into a building on Spotland Road on New Year's Day.

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for information after the fatal collision occurred at around 7.20pm on Monday 1 January 2024.

Police said that a car, containing three occupants, lost control causing it to collide with a building after it overtook a slower moving vehicle.

All three occupants of the vehicle were treated at the scene by emergency services and taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Sadly, a 19-year-old man, one of the passengers in the vehicle, passed away in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 2 January 2023), despite the best efforts of emergency services personnel.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident - or may have dashcam, CCTV or mobile footage from the area at the time of the incident - to please share it with officers to assist their enquiries.
