Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To demolish a balcony safely.

Expected start and finish: Monday 30 October 2023 – Friday 12 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lower Falinge, from its junction with Eliza Brierley Drive for a distance of 51 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair a leaking water main in the road.

Expected start and finish: Thursday 28 December 2023 – Thursday 18 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Watkin Street, from its junction with Charter Street for a distance of 30 metres in a southerly direction.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 8 January 2024 – Monday 5 February 2024.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Bridgefold Road, for its entire length.
  • Residential access will be maintained where possible.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on street when the closure is in place.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new gas mains supply in the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 January 2024 – Friday 26 January 2024.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary prohibition of waiting along the north side of Mellor Street, from its junction with College Road for a distance of 107 metres in a westerly direction.
  • Access for residences and business will be maintained.

Reason: To carry out telecommunications work.

Expected start and finish: Saturday 20 January 2024 – Sunday 21 January 2024.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary suspension of limited waiting bay from a point 8 metres north of its junction with Hunters Lane for a distance of 33 metres in a westerly direction.
  • Temporary prohibition of vehicles waiting at any time on Cheetham Street, from the southwest side from a point 8 metres north of its junction with Hunters Lane for a distance of 33 metres in a westerly direction.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To inspect a waste water manhole chamber in the road.

Expected start and finish: 3am – 5am, Monday 26 February 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Drake Street, from a point 5 metres south of its junction with South Parade for a distance of 20 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route:

  • The alternative route for buses will be South Parade, Newgate, St Mary's Gate, John Street, Molesworth Street, Milnrow Road and Drake Street.
  • These works will not interfere with tram services.

Reason: To repair a water service in the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 26 February 2024 – Friday 1 March 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Royle Road, from a point 10 metres south of its junction with Silk Street to a point 50 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Royle Barn Road, Manchester Road and Silk Street.

Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday, 11 March 2024 – Sunday 2 June 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Norman Road, from its junction with Dane Street to a point 470 metres in a south westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route will be signed onsite.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: To facilitate highway improvements.

Expected start and finish: Friday 16 June 2023 – Friday 5 April 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary 20mph speed limit on Pilsworth Road, from its junction with Moss Hall Road to the Heywood Distribution Park entrance.

Area: Heywood
Reason: To lay a new water main and new connections.

Expected start and finish: Monday 8 January 2024 – Friday 19 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Schofield Street, from its junction with Mount Street for a distance of 40 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Schofield Street, King Street and Mount Street.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: To carry out defective reinstatement work outside 10 Timbercliffe.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 30 January 2024 – Wednesday 31 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Timbercliffe, from 6 Timbercliffe for a distance of 20 metres in a north westerly direction.
Alternative route: Alternative diversion routes will be signed on street.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Pennines
Reason: To enable tree cutting and clear branches from overhead fibre optic cable lines.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 4pm each day from Tuesday 30 January 2024 – Thursday 1 February 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Ashfield Lane, from its junction with Stott Street to its junction with Cartmel Avenue.
Alternative route: The alternative route will be Cartmel Avenue, Egremont Road, Beechfield Road, Harbour Lane and Ashfield Lane.
