Residents to have their say on phone mast
Date published: 14 November 2008
Residents in North Middleton can have their say on plans to build a phone mast on land off Hanson Close until 24 November.
Plans for the 17.5 metre high mast were submitted by mobile phone company O2 last month and the publicity period for the proposal ends next week.
Councillors on the Middleton Township planning sub-committee will visit the site ahead of their meeting on Wednesday (19 November) while Council planning officers have recommended that the plan is approved as they say it would not be detrimental to the visual amenity of the area and that the applicants have met Government guidelines relating to the health risks that mobile phone masts sometimes pose.
The proposed site for the mast is a small area of unused scrub land adjacent to one of the units on the Hanson Close industrial estate. The nearest houses to the site are 50 metres away.
So far the council has received no responses to the proposal, which will provide 3G mobile phone network coverage to Boarshaw residents.
