Redwood Secondary School

Rowing Achievements: Tommy H achieved an awesome place - he came fourth and this may put him in the mainstream team.

Everyone was very well behaved, they also showed great determination and effort as well as being great ambassadors for our school. It was brilliant to see the year 7 pupils represent the school so passionately - Paige & Gary O. The others were Tanzila, Sam E, Tommy D, Jordan A, Tonya, Debbie C, Jalessa, Nathan S & Sophie H-W.

We will be putting in a team to represent Rochdale in the Regional championships - it should be great and we will put in some training to build on our previous success and try to achieve a bit more high level recognition this time.

Key Stage 4 have had even more students out on work experience this week. Matthew R has been helping Rochdale Football Club with their Football in the Community programme. Leanne S has been working at the RSPCA shop in Milnrow and Aiden S has been at the British Heart Foundation Shop. All three received excellent reviews and we were very pleased to hear that all were hard working team players.

This week saw the Christmas Fair, it was a massive success and we made over £700 – thank you to all that attended.

Rochdale FC came in to do some training and did a penalty shoot-out. Jordan scored 8 out of 8 penalties leaving Mat rooted to the spot. Lots of the pupils in Key Stage 4 learned some new skills and perfected old ones.

Key stage 3 students have been cooking Christmas truffles all week and the Lilac Room went horseriding. In Spanish lessons Christmas cards were made and Christmas Carols sung. The Christmas showcase was a spectacular presentation involving all students and held in the Memory of Jade. Thank you to Oulder Hill students for organising a party for Year 7 students.

Redwood opens to students on Monday 4 January. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
