We would like to welcome back all our students – we hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing break and we are looking forward to a busy but enjoyable year ahead. Regarding uniform, please note that we still expect students to be in full uniform so if your child does travel to school in boots or wellingtons due to the wintry weather please make sure they have their school shoes to change in to once they arrive.

Congratulations to Taman Barzinji from Year 9 who won this year's Spelling Bee. Losing finalist Jessica Yung also played really well, only losing by 1 spelling. Well done to everyone who took part and thanks also to those who came along and supported the competition.

Students from Years 10 and 11 (26 in all) visited the Liverpool Tate Gallery just before Christmas to see an exhibition of sculpture. This covered various aspects of their GCSE course and enabled them to really develop their skills in areas such as recording personal observations and making sketches in different media and was a really good way of inspiring students for their mock exam and current coursework units. The students focused on a sculpture by Ron Mueck called ‘Ghost’ as well as researching the different types of materials that sculpture artists use. The students were impeccably behaved and produced some really detailed and useful work.
