A singer/song writer from Rochdale trying to make her way in the music business has made an impressive start – after her first ever trance song was signed by the biggest dance label in Europe.

Sarah-Jane Neild, 29, wrote the song ‘Chasing Rainbows’ which was snapped up  by Armada Music.

Mum-of-two, Sarah-Jane, said: “It all happened really fast, I wrote the song, then I got a text to say that Armada wanted to sign it and make a video – I kept thinking, ‘is this really happening?’ the video has been viewed 70,000 times in two months.”

Sarah-Jane’s passion for music began at an early age, she studied music at college and she used to sing in the band Crimson Scarlet, she then worked at the Backdoor Music Project and there she met DJ Absolute, who she made some dance tracks with and through him she met her husband, music producer James.

The biggest piece of advice James gave her, she said, was to start writing her own lyrics.

“It just escalated from there,” she said.

“This is the first trance song I have ever written and it was signed by Armada!

“It got to number 4 on the Beatport download Trance Charts and has been played on Radio 1 by Judge Jules, and it’s on about eight compilation albums.”

Now a published songwriter, Sarah-Jane is writing songs for other people and has been asked to sing on some tracks.

Sarah-Jane, who works at Recruitment Solutions, hopes this is the start of things to come.

She said: “I would love to have my own album, I don’t want to do anything like the X Factor, I am prepared to start at the bottom and work my way up.”

She never anticipated that she would turn her hand to trance music, she said: “I have a soulful type of voice but I’m very versatile, I can do ballads and big numbers as well as soft and gentle.”
