Date published: 17 February 2012

Police have released an image of a man wanted in connection with an attack in Rochdale.

Just after 3.00am on Tuesday 27 December 2011, the 24-year-old victim was inside Pizza King on Drake Street when he was approached by two men.

Words were exchanged before an argument broke out.

The victim was then punched and he fell to the floor before being kicked to the head.

He suffered a broken cheekbone and bruising to the head.

A 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault and bailed pending further inquiries.

One man is described as being white with short blonde hair and aged between 30 and 40. He wore a black jacket.

Detective Constable Mike Berger from Rochdale CID said: “This was a sustained attack on the victim that left him with a painful injury and I would urge anyone who recognises the man in the image to contact us.

“I believe someone out there knows who he is and I would ask them to do the right thing and get in touch. The information you supply will remain strictly confidential.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 4637 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
