Planning application to build close to accident blackspot
Date published: 01 May 2012
A planning application to build houses close to a notorious accident blackspot has been submitted by Wain Homes.
The application is for 60 dwellings on land off Broad Lane.
Nearby resident Tracy Wilson said: "It would appear very few residents have been made aware of the this huge proposed development, in what is a notorious black spot for serious road traffic accidents, thus limiting opportunities to object."
Ward councillor Dale Mulgrew commented: "Both myself and Cllr Pat Colclough have concerns about this planning application.
"This will be an incursion into the green belt. There are also unresolved issues associated with the environmental conditions of the ground as the area is full of springs.
"Finally, the safety record of the new Broad Lane highway continues to be a source of concern for the local neighbourhood and building more houses will potentially add to this."
Written objections can be made to the Council Planning Department.
