Sean Hansford - Weekly Photographer of the Year

Photographer Sean Hansford has been honoured at the regional newspaper industry’s ‘Oscars’.

Sean, who works for the Rochdale Observer, was named Weekly Photographer of the Year at the Society of Editors Regional Press Awards.

The judges praised Sean’s "eclectic but powerful portfolio" which showed he has "every single quality needed to be a great photographer". His portfolio’ of pictures included a photograph of the Manchester riots and one of a rescued kitten with its mother.

Speaking to the MEN, Sean, 35, from Oldham, said: “I really didn’t expect to win. It’s fantastic to be recognised for doing a job that you love.”
