Review: The Italian Job

Date published: 20 July 2012

Opened in January this year, the Italian Job is a cosy, bistro style restaurant based on Huddersfield Road, Newhey.

We visited on a Thursday night, the steak special night, where they offer a starter and any steak for just £15.

We started the meal with the Antipasti Misto, a mixed starter of salami, pate, fish, goat’s cheese and olives. All the ingredients were fresh and the excellent homemade pate came with freshly baked bread to accompany it.

We then followed this with the fillet steak Rossini - tender beef served on a crostini, with pate and a red wine sauce accompanied by vegetables and potatoes. The steak was one of the best I have had for a very long time. Locally sourced from the butchers literally across the road you can really taste the difference.

This was washed down with a couple of glasses of house red, good value for money at just £10.

The service was good all night with attentive staff.

The Italian Job is now offering a lunch time menu; open from Wednesday at 1.00pm. Please see the link below for full details

Offers are always available with 2 for 1 on pizza and pasta on Wednesdays, steak and a starter for £15 on Thursdays and also a Sunday lunch offering.

As an Rochdale Online exclusive offer, Craig, Darren and the team are offering 50% off their lunchtime menu to Rochdale Online readers.

If you like good quality food at the right price in a cozy environment you should definitely pay a visit. I for one will certainly be recommending them to all my friends and family.
