Duo charged after councillor threatened

Two men have been charged after a Rochdale councillor received threats and demands for cash.
On 4 March 2013, two men attended the home address of the councillor, made threats on his life and demanded a large amount of cash.
Zaheer Ahmid (20/05/1979), of Church Street, Dudley in the West Midlands and Murza Zia Sadiq (03/12/1980), of Willowbank Avenue, Staines, have been charged with one count of blackmail.
They have been remanded in custody to appear at Bury Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 13 March 2013.
