Man charged with attempted murder

Mark Pierson (31/08/1964) of Belfield Old Road was charged with the attempted murder of Primary School headteacher Gillian Kay and is due before magistrates today, Saturday 27 April.
Mr Pierson, 48, a former coach driver, who lives with his parents, is said by neighbours to have had mental health issues and drug problems.
Gillian Kay, 40, had just got out of her black Peugeot 207 when she was allegedly assaulted by Mr Pierson, who was walking past at the same time.
Mrs Kay and her husband, Martin, 42, a former amateur rugby league player, have lived in the 1930s semi-detached in Shaw Road, Thornham for 10 years with their daughter Lauren, 22, a trainee teacher.
UPDATE
Magistrates remanded Pierson in custody, he will next appear in court on 17 May.
