Work starts on new affordable homes

Date published: 14 May 2013

Work has started on a £1.2 million housing development which is set to revitalise an area of Rochdale.

The new development, led by housing group Regenda, will see 13 new properties being built over three separate sites at Belfield Road, Brunswick Street and Bulwer Street.

The 13 new properties are made up of 11 three-bedroom houses, one two-bedroom house and one two-bedroom bungalow. Regenda are working in partnership with Rochdale Council to provide these homes to local people for affordable rent.

Martin Davies, Regenda’s Director of Development, said: “We are delighted to get started on transforming this site of demolished houses into new high-quality homes where people want to live. We look forward to the site being completed next year to enable our residents to move in.”

The new homes will come with gardens, parking spaces, and energy efficiency measures. The project should be completed early in 2014.

Councillor Sultan Ali, Rochdale MBC Portfolio Holder for Strategic Housing said: “Regenda has an enviable pedigree in this kind of development and Rochdale Borough Council is delighted to work in partnership with them to provide affordable, high quality living for local people.”
