Family pay tribute to Jake Harris

Date published: 31 May 2013

The family of Jake Harris, 21, who died after suffering a stab wound to his neck in the early hours of Monday morning, has paid tribute to him.

Jake’s family said: "Jake was a much loved son, stepson, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.

"He always had a smile on his face and he had the ability to light up a room when he walked in it.

"He was always happy and dependable, and he had the personality that made him many friends, not just of his own age, but people of all ages, young and old.

"He had a charisma about him and a magnetic personality which made him popular with everyone that he knew or met.

"Jake was beautiful, inside and out, and we feel lucky to have had him in our lives. He was cherished by everyone and will be sorely missed by his family who adored him and everyone who knew him.

"This is a difficult time in our family, and we ask that we be allowed to grieve in peace for Jake."

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jake’s death is ongoing.

A man and a woman who were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Kevin Johnston said: "We are offering support to Jake’s family at this most traumatic of times and our thoughts remain with them as they try to come to terms with their loss.

"We continue to work hard to establish exactly what happened and I would urge the public not to come to their own conclusions."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5122 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
